Get this – Moeen Ali, who claimed three wickets in the CSK’s win over the Delhi Capitals on Sunday, is the longest odds of all the bowlers on his side’s roster to land be top wicket-taker for his team against the Mumbai Indians.

I think 8.0 represents astonishing value for punters. He is by no means a favourite, but his performance on Sunday shows his value to the team as a spinner.

He claimed three wickets for 13 runs from four overs – taking the key scalps of Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant, and Axar Patel in a golden-arm spell.

A Devon Conway innings of 87 from just 49 balls set the Super Kings on their way to a resounding win over the Delhi Capitals. The Kiwi hit seven 4s and five 6s at a strike rate of 177.55 to continue his fine form in this year’s IPL.

It’s all a little too late for the CSK now. They have to win all of their remaining three games and hope the RCB lose both of theirs to stand a chance of making the playoffs.

CSK have already beaten MI once this season, when miraculous finishing from MS Dhoni dragged his team over the line from a seemingly impossible situation. How many times have we seen the mercurial Indian legend do that?

Other than flashes of brilliance from the odd talent, the MI have been average all season long.

The trend in this tournament has been to bowl first if you win the toss – but the skipper gets the flip of the coin may think twice when they consider the recent record at the Wankhede stadium.

In each of the last five matches at this venue, the team batting first has won. What is more – they all follow quite a distinct pattern. The team batting first across those same five matches average 177, while the chasing team average 107.6

To put that into context – the aggregate victory margin between the team batting first and second stands at 347 runs.
