GT vs RR Betting Odds

For my cricket betting tips on this game, the big IPL 200 final, I’m going with GT to win it.

It’s close and you could make a good case for either side in a game where the odds on both are exactly the same but there are a couple of reasons why Gujarat get our vote and we’ll obviously talk you through them.

I’ll also have my usual toss winner pick and the GT vs RR betting odds for my Hot Bet: a third tip at bigger odds than usual.

I’m going with a somewhat underrated Royals bowler to take the most wickets here at very decent odds. And it’s not Purple Cap joint-leader Yuzvendra Chahal!

GT vs RR Betting Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back GT to win @ 1.9 with Betway

It’s a fitting end to the 2022 IPL that the two sides who topped the Group Stages are in the final and that it’s pretty much a 50/50 affair going into the decider.

They’ve certainly been the two best sides in the competition.

As we explained in our Playoff preview, the statistics show that for whatever reason, the runner-up of the Group Stages tends to win the IPL far more often than the side who actually topped the Group.

And there’s no doubt that the Royals’ Jos Buttler will be the most feared player from among the batsmen on show.

Fair enough. But perhaps there are more reasons to think Gujarat will go on to win it.

They won both matches against the Royals this year, first in the Group Stages and then again of course in the Qualifier 1.

And whereas the Royals look a bit over-dependent on Buttler, all of Pandya, Saha, Gill and Miller have played important knocks over the past few matches so aren’t so reliant on one player.

Add to the equation that GT have undoubtedly the better bowling attack and that makes our minds up for us.

And here’s our Betway review, with all the info you need to know about a highly recommended betting site who offer generous odds, good bonuses and a top-class live betting product.

Plus of course, all the latest GT vs RR betting markets and odds.

GT vs RR Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back Obed McCoy to be RR Top Bowler @ 3.61 with 10CRIC

The likes of Buttler and Chahal have received most of the plaudits this season and rightly so.

But there have been a couple of Royals players who have made greater contributions than they’ve been given credit for.

One of them is Ravi Ashwin (who’s batted well in addition to bowling nicely) and another is Obed McCoy.

The West Indian was in and out of the side at one stage but the truth is that he took at least one wicket in every single one of the six matches he played this season.

Two of the things we always look for in our top bowler betting guide are bowlers who always bowl their four overs and who bowl at the death: McCoy does both.

Last match he took three wickets to tie with Prasidh Krishna, the one before he took one to tie with Trent Boult and the one before that, he took two to tie with Chahal that time.

So he’s come pretty close and let’s hope he can win it on his own this time.

Gujarat Titans Logo for the IPL Final: GT vs RR Betting Tips & Predictions

Gujarat Titans’ Recent Form

Chasing a challenging target against the Royals in that Qualifier 1, the Titans once again delivered.

It was skipper Hardik Pandya who anchored the innings with a good 40 off 27 but it was David Miller, not for the first time, who really delivered the knockout blows.

This has probably been his best IPL season after a decade of featuring in the competition and this time round his 68 off 38 made it look pretty easy in the end.

He hit the first three balls of the 19th over for six and that was that.

Earlier Rashid Khan had bowled beautifully, going for just 15 runs off his four overs, a big reason why the Titans weren’t chasing a much bigger score.

Win or lose, it’s been an excellent season for the Titans who topped the Group Stages, won the Qualifier comfortably and have done just about everything right this campaign.

Team News

It would be strange if they changed the side now, especially after they beat the Royals pretty convincingly with this XI just days ago.

Yash Dayal has been quite expensive with the ball but they don’t necessarily have anyone better to bring in for him so he’ll probably feature again.

Player to Watch: Hardik Pandya

It hasn’t been the greatest of IPLs for many of the usual India stars.

All of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer had poor tournaments with only really KL Rahul and Pandya shining with the bat from among players likely to feature for India at the upcoming World Cup.

But Pandya did more than just score runs. In addition to his 453 runs, he also took 5 wickets (including that of Padikkal in the last match) and three catches.

He also impressed with his captaincy in his first ever season of leadership. He led the team well and has really enhanced his reputation over the past few weeks.

After a somewhat quiet year, he’s surely nailed on to play for India at the World Cup, whether Gujarat win the game or not.

He’s 4.0 to be their top batsman and 12.0 to be man-of-the-match,

Here’s our Betway review, where you’ll find out why we recommend it as a trustworthy, safe and extremely reliable betting site.

Gujarat’s Likely XI

Saha, Gill, Wade, Pandya, Miller, Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Joseph, Kishore, Dayal, Shami.

RR’s Recent Form

After losing to GT in that Qualifier 1, the Royals then went and beat RCB pretty easily in the Qualifier 2.

They bowled extremely well to restrict RCB to what was clearly a below par-score, before quick runs in the early overs from the bat of Yashavi Jaiswal took a lot of the pressure off in the chase.

Of course it helps a great deal when Jos Buttler goes out and gets a big score in almost every game. And that will be the main worry for Rajasthan fans.

If he goes out and gets another 100, they’ll almost certainly win the game.

But what if he goes out and gets less than 10? Will Padikkal stand up? Will Sanju Samson finally deliver a proper captain’s knock? Will Hetmyer play a gem of a cameo in the death overs?

We’ll have to wait and see.

Curiously, the only player who was expensive against RCB was Yuzvendra Chahal, the joint-Purple Cap holder, who went for 11 an over.

But it could just be that he had the one bad day and bounces back here.

Team News

Shimron Hetmyer has been somewhat out of form since leaving the IPL for the birth of his child.

After coming back, he’s scored just 6, 4 and 2 and the Royal management will be wondering if they can carry on justifying having him in the team.

A good option may be James Nesham, who would give them another bowling option as well as being able to bat at six.

But they’ll probably feel now is not the time to make changes and that they’re better off going with the team that got them this far.

Player to Watch: Jos Buttler

Who else? The Englishman hasn’t always had it all his own way in the IPL but this season he’s looked like the best T20 batsman on the planet by some distance.

Opponents changed, grounds changed, he batted first or second but the end result was often the same: a load of runs from his bat.

16 games have brought four centuries, four fifties and 824 runs which will be over 200 runs more than his nearest rival for the Orange Cap, KL Rahul.

His strike rate of 151 is the highest among the Top 10 run scorers in the tournament.

And it’s not just the runs or how quickly he’s scored them, either. Buttler has made it all look incredibly easy and at times bowlers just don’t know where to bowl at him.

He’s nailed on to be the Orange Cap winner and will almost certainly be the IPL MVP as well but he’ll be desperate to also add the IPL title itself to his prizes as well.

Buttler is unsurprisingly the 3.0 to be Royals top batsman and 4.5 to be the top batsman in the match. Prices with Betway.

He’s also 7.0 favourite for man-of-the-match.

What’s worth knowing is that in addition to being in excellent form after yet another century on Friday is that he top-scored for the Royals in both matches against the Titans this season.

Here’s our Betway review, where you’ll find out why we recommend it as a trustworthy, safe and extremely reliable betting site.

RR’s Likely XI

Jaiswal, Buttler, Samson, Paddikal, Hetmyer, Parag, Ashwin, Boult, Krishna, McCoy, Chahal.

Venue & conditions

It was a strange wicket we had at Ahmedabad on Friday.

RCB made it look two-paced and tacky, losing eight wickets as they posted just 157.

But it was probably just a case of a poor batting performance rather than any great demons in the pitch. And proof of that was of course how Buttler got a century and how the Royals chased that total with almost two overs to spare.

But still. Ahmedabad isn’t always a batting friendly-wicket and getting to 170 batting first is easier said than done.

But here’s what we do know. There’s a slight advantage to batting second here with nine of the last 15 won by the team chasing.

You could see on Friday how the Royals looked comfortable knowing what they needed to do while RCB were a bit confused about what was a par score.

When in doubt, teams generally choose to chase so that’s probably what we’ll get here from the captain winning the toss.
